Now there’s nothing wrong with rewrites, it is an essential part of the writing process.  It is said that Cynthia Cidre, the screenwriter for Mambo Kings, did 26 rewrites.  And probably those are the documented ones.  So getting notes is a good thing.  It is the deliberate and methodical squeezing of originality out of an idea that may be suspect.
