The Movie List from A Film Look for 2012
For other years click: Movies 2011; Movies 2013
Once again I have made a list of the year’s films I’ve had opportunity to see so far, categorized and ranked.
This year unfortunately I was only able to watch less than half as last year, and some of the many missing titles in my must see, include: Amour, Anna Karenina, The Cabin in the Woods, The Guilt Trip, The Intouchables, Holy Motors, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Rust and Bone, Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, and Seven Psychopaths among others.
As these and others are thrown in the bucket, I will update the list. For now, here it is:

COMEDY
15 movies – The comedies this year were not top of the game, though perhaps that is why I find the top two to be such standouts. In all fairness, among my list of must sees (above) there are a couple that potentially rank high, certainly above 17.

As of now, I have only seen two 2012 HORROR movie: The Woman in Black and Chronicle. Good scares and edits, I rank them at 2730 and 33 respectively with a Score of 8 and a B Grade for the first and 7 and B- for the second (consistencies, you know…). Other horror movies on my list to see include Cabin in the Woods, The Raven, and The Possession.
As for ANIMATED movies, this year’s crop seems lackluster. So far I have only seen Brave, a disappointing film with incredibly good animation technique, which ranks at 34 (with a 7 and a B-). Still on my list to see Wreck-it-Ralph and Frankenweenie.

My Top Ten (favorites):
Les Miserables, Silver Linings Playbook, Argo, Moonrise Kingdom, Django Unchained, Life of Pi, Skyfall, The Hunger Games, Looper, The Dark Knight Rises. Which is not the same as selecting the TEN BEST PICTURE NOMINEES… If nominating: Les Miserables, Silver Linings Playbook, Argo, Moonrise Kingdom, Django Unchained, Life of Pi, The Impossible, Lincoln… I know, that’s only nine. But I haven’t seen Amour or Rust and Bone…
