Jake Gyllenhaal’s nightcrawling Louis Bloom is mesmerizing to watch. Not since Anthony Hopkins’ portrayal of Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs has a character been so amorally fascinating. The film takes rubbernecking into a whole new category.  

Riz Ahmed’s, as Bloom’s hapless assistant thrown into a whirlwind of moral ambiguity, has a well deserved nomination from the Independent Spirit Awards along with the noms for Gylenhaal, screenplay and First Feature by writer/director Dan Gilroy. MOVIE WEBSITE
